Are prescription inhalers allowed on checked bags at Midway Airport?

I am going on vacation in a week and I have an asthma inhaler but I do not have the prescription because I lost it when I first received the inhaler. If I put it in a checked bag at Midway Airport would I be able to, or will I be stopped. I am flying out with Southwest Airlines.
